For those of you who don't know, on Monday Nov 28th I was diagnosed with
Type II Diabetes. I knew that it was coming, because 3 Grandparents were and my mother is a diabetic. It was just a matter of time for me. Not to mention the fact that I just sat on my ass and got fatter and fatter without worrying about my weight. Well, I can't say I didn't worry about it, but I sure didn't worry enough to get up and do anything about it. In my mind I always wanted to be in better shape and be a healthier person. Now, I don't have an option.
The one bit of good news that I have is that my Dr. told me that If I were to drop, ohh 40 lbs, and continued to eat right, my diabetes could go into remission and I could go off my medication (
Actos 15mg) and live a more normal life. Not saying that diabetics don't live a normal life, but a lifestyle that is a tad bit more "loose" than living by a diabetic diet and exercise regime.
I've just joined a local gym (the
BAC, for those of you in Roanoke) and am beginning Diabetic Nutrition classes suggested by my doc. With the info from the classes and from
www.bodybuiling.com that I've been reading, I'm sure my transformation will be to the point that my friends and family won't even recognize me. At least that's my plan.
So those of you at work, I need your help. If you see me eating something you think I shouldn't be,
HOLLA at me. I know the 12 Days of Christmas @ the pharmacy will be hard, but I can do it, with your help. To my family, while we're eatin' at the usual family "functions" help me not to go crazy, and don't let me get seconds. To Amber, Geoff, Sarah, and D. Let's try not to bring any more junk into the house. We've got enough as it is. :O)
Well, I'm off my soapbox for now, but I'm sure I'll have more to say later...
